The four things that make a quote accurate

1. What you are trying to achieve. “Sixty feet of screening about six feet high to block a neighbour’s upstairs window” tells us more than a species name, and lets us specify something that will actually work.
2. Photographs. Two or three from where you normally stand — the patio, the kitchen window, the street. Sightlines on photographs and sightlines on paper frequently disagree.
3. Rough dimensions and light. Run length or bed size, and roughly how many hours of direct sun the area gets in summer. That single number decides most of the plant selection.
4. Address and timing. Delivery is priced on distance and access, and the best planting window here is February to April — so timing genuinely affects the advice.

What happens next

We will come back with what we would recommend and why, the plant sizes and quantities, a delivery figure, and labour if you want the planting done. Where something you have asked for is a poor fit for the conditions, we will say so and suggest an alternative rather than quoting it silently.

For larger orders it is worth coming to the nursery to tag the actual plants — particularly for hedging, where matched grading across a run matters more than average size.
