The Green Nursery Journal

Written from the growing rows

Twenty long-form guides to plants, planting and landscaping in Miami-Dade — written by people who grow the plants, deliver them and put them in the ground.

Practical answers for Miami-Dade, not everywhere else

Most gardening advice online is written for acidic loam, four seasons and a winter freeze. None of those exist here. These guides are written specifically for zone 10b, alkaline sand over limestone, and a year split between a saturated wet season and a dry one.

About these guides

Common questions

How often are new guides published?
New guides are added as topics come up in conversation with customers. Every article is dated and carries a last-updated date, so you can see how current it is.
Is this advice specific to Miami-Dade?
Yes. Everything is written for USDA zone 10b, alkaline sand over oolitic limestone, and a year split between a wet season and a dry one. Advice written for temperate climates assumes the opposite of all three.
What is the difference between the blog and the Learn section?
The blog carries long pillar guides covering a whole subject in depth. The Learn section answers single focused questions — spacing, watering, diagnosis, cost — in a few minutes.
Who writes these articles?
Green Nursery LLC, a working grower-direct nursery at 19995 SW 177th Ave in Miami. The guides reflect what we see across Miami-Dade rather than general horticultural theory.
Can I ask a question that is not covered?
Yes. Call (786) 283-3401 or email pf575917@gmail.com with a photo of the plant or the space, and we will tell you what we would do.
